From the ancient geology, indigenous civilisations and European settlement, to the struggles, controversies, intrigue and successes of outback South Australia, Trackwork provides both the transport and background to explore these layers. Sam as the Manager and Guide, himself comes from a family background based in stockmen, agriculture and regional business spanning from the Riverland, through the Mid North and beyond.

The Tarlee Bakery was once the Reed General Store run by his grandparents, while the other grandparents ran stations and properties from Morgan to Eudunda and the Finke River inside the Northern Territory. More recently, now based in Sevenhill in the Clare Valley, Sam has traveled hundreds of thousands of kilometres while managing a landscaping business focused on regional areas and farming properties. This has provided a means to engage with the history of the region, gain knowledge from locals across generations, and piece together lesser known insights with existing knowledge.

A passion for history and these extensive travels, originally formed the concept for Trackwork combined with a love of the outdoors and adventure. Through these experiences, we can show you the well known sites, against the background and context of less explored but equally significant locations. Underpinning our historical and cultural offerings, is a desire to demonstrate the role of all cultures in shaping the land and communities we have today.

In an often polarising political landscape, it is crucial to understand the struggles and successes that our collective ancestors have experienced in the region, to better understand the present and navigate our future. History is not only in the distant past, it is also what happened last week, and shapes what happens today and tomorrow. We hope to welcome you on a journey that provides a deeper understanding of what it means to be Australian, and how humanity, the environment and myriad cultures have come to find a place in the outback.
