What Trackwork does
Piping Shrike Trackwork specialises in remote Adventure travel between the Barossa Valley, north to the Flinders Ranges and Outback, west to the Yorke and Eyre Peninsula and West Coast, and east through to the Riverland and state borders. With 20 years’ experience in field safety, logistics and security within emergency management and humanitarian sectors, our service standards are highly professional.
Our rugged vehicles include our Fuso Canter 4×4, Toyota Hilux and Hyundai Santa Fe, all turbo 4×4 equipped, and all-wheel drive configured. Our fleet is equipped with advanced first aid, communications and navigation technology, and Sam provides a high duty of care, exceptional professionalism and service.
Trackwork provides access from Adelaide into the rugged, outback landscapes of South Australia. We specialise in the Heysen trail (bushwalking), Mawson trail (cycling), Lavender Federation and Walk the Yorke trails (bushwalking & cycling). Our own customised Trackwork routes are also available, connecting the big trails with networked routes and spectacular scenery.

Sam Reed - Guide & Manager
Trackwork is an independently operated, family business run from our Sevenhill base, here in the Clare Valley. Sam Reed is Trackwork’s Manager and Guide, who is in turn managed by his wife Rachel. Since a young age, Sam grew up bushwalking, cycling and bodyboarding across Australia and New Zealand, having travelled globally in pursuit of historical sites and landscapes to explore. He has an intimate knowledge of the wider region, and completed the Heysen, Mawson and Lavender Federation trails.
Sam has for over 20 years specialised in safety, driving and field operations spanning policing, emergency and humanitarian response in Australia and overseas. Drawing on extensive international training and skillsets in travel and operations in remote locations, He is strongly equipped to get you to and from any outdoor adventures. These skills were gained working with the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, Australian Red Cross, Ausaid, South Australia Police, Disaster Relief Australia and Metropolitan Fire Service. He remains an active volunteer of the Country Fire Service in the Clare Valley, as a Senior Firefighter.
